and NOLA RICHARDSON, soprano

Step into the candlelit intimacy of Hammer Hall for a trip back to the age of Handel and Purcell, to the very peak of English Baroque. Soprano Nola Richardson, praised for having a voice for which Handel might have designed the music, sings arias from the composer’s Aminta e Fillide and Partenope, his first comic opera. Nola brings her sublime voice to arias from Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, an opera written in the spirit of Shakespeare’s comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The suite from Pulcinella is Stravinsky’s reimagination of 18th century music and makes for an irresistible concert experience – all by candlelight.
